Time to Support Children
Today
By Bob Cooper Dear Friends, The fearless Masai warriors of Africa greet each other with an interesting question, "How are the children?" The answer to this greeting is, "All the children are well." This custom bears witness to the high value the Masai place on the well being of children. When given as a verbal response, "All the children are well" means that the Masai have not forgotten their responsibility for the youngest members of their society. Can we as Americans make the same claim? Child Abuse Prevention the question is especially important for all of us. How are the children? The answer, not very well. Child abuse is common. Studies show that one in four girls and one in eight boys will be sexually abused before they are 18 years old. In 2000, there were 879,000 children in our country found to be victims of child maltreatment. Child fatalities are the most tragic consequence of maltreatment. Approximately 1,200 children died of abuse or neglect that same year. How are the children? Now you know. The life-changing question is, will you help? Tennyson Center for Children helps nearly 2,000 at-risk, abused and neglected children and their families each year. Please call 303-433-2541 and say, "I want to help." Please, do it for the children. Thank
