Report Child Abuse

It's easier than you think to help kids!

If you don't have time to volunteer with a local agency, what can you do? The answer is, you can directly help children by making an online contribution. It's easy and takes only a few minutes.

How do I know my contribution will directly help kids?

It goes toward improving the lives of the children helped by Tennyson Center for Children, which provides treatment and special education for at-risk, abused and neglected children ages 5 to 14 and their families. There is residential care, for children who have been removed from their homes by social services; a school, for the residential children and also for children who cannot attend their local school due to behavioral difficulties; and a therapy center where licensed, specialized therapists help the children and families heal.

You're treating at-risk, abused and neglected children, but how does that end child abuse?

Our strategy is to treat the whole family. The families of children who are helped here receive therapy to help them become better parents and to learn how to create a safe and happy home environment. It's not an inexpensive approach, but it works. We hope it will be emulated by other organizations.

Is the program proven successful?

Yes. We've conducted studies for 10 years on our programs' effectiveness, based on length of stay required, ability of children to return to regular classrooms or less-restrictive environments, and other issues. Last year we served nearly 500 children and approximately 1,500 other family members.

Does your organization have a solid history, or is it new?

In 2004, we will be celebrating our institution's 100th anniversary. Tennyson Center for Children was the first accredited residential treatment center for abused and neglected children in Colorado, and is currently the largest treatment center for children ages 5-14 in the Rocky Mountain region. Our satellite locations help children of all ages. Increasingly, we serve children in other states and are now providing parenting education and advocacy information nationwide.
