Tennyson Center for Children's Office of Strategic Initiatives focuses on advocacy and public education that create and influence public policies, programs and systemic improvements to help children and families overcome a variety of life crises including abuse and neglect.
Through leadership, lobbying, research and publications, coalition building, media outreach, and grassroots mobilization we promote civic engagement on the issues impacting Colorado’s most vulnerable children.

Katie Facchinello, Director of Office of Strategic Initiatives
Ms. Facchinello is responsible for the advocacy and public policy initiatives of Tennyson Center for Children. Ms. Facchinello earned a degree in Political Science from Colorado State University. Prior to joining the Tennyson Center staff in 2011, she was the communications manager at the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and a candidate for Colorado State Senate District 30 in 2010.
In her role as Director of Strategic Initiatives she monitors pending legislation effecting Colorado’s most vulnerable children and regularly provides testimony at the Colorado legislature on a wide range of public policy issues, including child welfare reform, child poverty, education, and the prevention of abuse and neglect.
Additionally, she serves as the Colorado Campaign Director for Every Child Matters Education fund, coordinating candidate forums, awareness events, and educating voters, candidates and elected officials on the issues facing America’s children.
Her community involvement over the years includes membership in the Women’s Foundation of Colorado Empowerment Council, serving on the Board of Directors of Prevent Child Abuse Colorado and Colorado Lawyers for the Arts.
