Personal and Tribute Fundraising Pages 101: How to Get Started on your Online Campaign for Kids!

Online Fundraising 101

Please read this three-part tutorial on how to create your own personal or tribute fundrasing page including; how to get started, personalizing your page, creating a friendly URL for your personal page, uploading photos, sending emails, view offline gifts, and how to add contacts to your address book. After reading the instructions on how to get started, you'll be an expert on setting up your own online fundraising page!

Step 1: Creating My Fundraising Page:  Now you can create your own online fundraising campaign with Tennyson Center's Personal and Tribute Fundraising Pages! You can pay tribute to your loved ones, remember those dear to you, or create your own campaign to help raise awareness and funds for the kiddos at Tennyson Center for Children.

To get started follow these steps:

1.) At the bottom of the Personal and Tribute Fundraisng landing page click on Create a Tribute Page (the page you were just on)
2.) Please fill out the registration form to create a username and password for Tennyson Center's website and signup for your own fundraising page. If you already have a username for our site you can simply log in and click Access/Manage My Tribute Dashboard at the bottom of the Personal and Tribute Fundraising landing page to get started.
3.) Once you sign up you will be taken to your Home landing page that has the personal fundraising page dashboard.
4.) Your Dasboard - Your fundraising page dashboard will allow you to personalize your fundraising page with your own story and photos, email family and friends to support you, import and add new contacts to your address book, and receive email alerts when somebody makes a donation to your page. Just follow the simple steps provided in the dashboard instructions to get started.


Step 2: Personalize My Page:  On your Home Page scroll down to the My Home tools under To Do. These are the tools you will use to design your fundraising page, create and send emails to family and friends asking them to donate to your page, preview your webpage to see if there are any additional edits to be made, and a place to view your offline gifts.
 
1.) Design My Web Page - Use the Edit My Web Page tool to write your story, add pictures, choose the color for your thermometer, title your message board, and view your page.

2.) Uploading Photos -  All uploaded user photos require approval from the web manager. You can upload up to five photos.  Photos cannot exceed 500 kb. When you upload photos that are different sizes vertical verse horizontal - you will notice that the slide show will cause the text to jump as it formats the screen to fit the displayed photo. Photos that are uploaded for personal and tribute fundraising pages will take at least one business day to be approved and posted to your page. Photos of the children we serve at Tennyson Center for Children WILL NOT BE APPROVED to protect the privacy and safety of the children we serve.

3.) Create a Friendly URL - You can also create a friendly URL so your friends and family can find your fundraising page with ease. Specify the friendly URL to use for: How You Can Help - Personal/Tribute Fundraising. Make sure this is the link you really want since this action cannot be undone once applied. To check if the URL you selected is available click the blue check. When you are sure click the 'Apply Friendly URL' button to apply.

4.) Visit My Web Page – This is where you can view/visit your live online fundraising page

5.) Offline Gifts - This is where you can view offline gifts like cash and checks that have been mailed in to Tennyson Center to support your online fundraising efforts


 Step 3: Creating Contacts, Sending Emails, and Thank Yous: You can create and send emails to rally your family and friends to support your fundraising efforts.  They can donate to your cause and leave messages on your fundraising page to share memories, stories, and comments.

Contacts: To add a new contact simply select Add New and type in the person’s name and email address.
Once you have added your family and friends you will be able to access their emails in your Address Book and select who you would like to send messages to. You can also send a thank you email to those who have given or commented on your fundraising page.

Create an Email:

1.) Select a recipient from your address book or add a new recipient and click continue
2.) Type in Email Greeting or leave as is: Dear Name
3.) Type in your subject line. Example – Hi, I’m raising money for Tennyson Center for Children. Visit my fundraising page!
4.) Compose your email
5.) CLICK the PRVIEW BUTTON – always preview your email before sending it.
6.) Click Send
7.) A link to your fundraising page is added in your email so your recipients can easily access your page!

 Sending a Thank You Email:

1.) Select the receipients you wish to thank
2.) Click continue
3.) Either choose the salutation defaulted or type in Dear/To ____
4.) Compose your emai
5.) Click the PREVIEW button - always preview yrou email before sending it
6.) Click Send
