Help Our Kiddos Get Ready for School
Back to School Shopping Spree
It’s hard to believe that summer is already half over but our staff is busy getting ready for the upcoming school year. Plans are underway for one of our most important programs, our children’s back-to-school-shopping spree. After all, the special needs of these kids don’t take a summer vacation, so we can’t either. Tennyson Center for Children's Back to School Shopping Spree is an opportunity for the kids in our care to pick out their very own new outfit to wear on the first day of school. So many of these children have never had new clothes; they’ve never experienced the American ritual of back-to-school shopping. As you can imagine, our boys and girls look forward to this day with anticipation. It’s a chance for them to feel like other kids---kids who have never had to deal with the pain of a life filled with crisis and trauma.
The development of self-esteem is a major part of their journey on the path to healing. And, a quick way to build self-esteem in young kids is with new clothes. Remember, your sponsorship of programs like this are critical to the successful treatment and healing of every child we serve. Your support truly changes lives.
This wonderful event takes place one Saturday morning in August, when the kids in our residential treatment and Stepping Stones programs take part in the American ritual of back-to-school shopping, many of them for the first time in their lives.
There's nothing like the look of the children's faces on shopping day and YOU CAN MAKE THIS SPECIAL DAY HAPPEN FOR THEM by helping children in need get new clothes for school by donating now!
