One of the most steadfast support systems throughout the history of Tennyson Center for Children have come from the congregations and mission groups from churches throughout not only the metro Denver region, but from across the country as well. Over the course of a given year, thousands of individuals representing countless churches help not only by volunteering, but also with their efforts in fulfilling in-kind giving opportunities such as Favors of Faith, Harvest of Hope, Operation Santa, Dress-a-Child, and Stuff-the-Bus.

Throughout the year, a number of congregations hold fundraising events in their area to benefit Tennyson Center for Children, such as pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, flea markets and benefit concerts. To find out more about how your congregation or mission group can get involved with Tennyson Center, contact Cindy McKinney, Volunteer Coordinator, at 720-855-3421 or email her at [email protected].

Kansas Mission Group Makes 8th Trip to Tennyson Center

Our friends from Cheney, Kansas once again showed their dedication to helping abused and neglected children by making their 8th annual pilgrimage to Tennyson Center for Children at Colorado Christian Home. The Mission Group from Cheney's Trinity Christian Church arrived on May 29, 2006 with 16 youth and adult members of the church for a week of bible study, arts & crafts, theatre and outside activities with the kids we serve at Tennyson Center.

But one week wasn't enough for this wonderful group of individuals. For the second week, 17 members of the church assisted with the Tennyson Center Summer Program, partaking in activities such as hiking, swimming and movies. Additionally, they presented their outdoor culinary skills by taking over the grilling duties for our weekly Thursday cookouts as well as tie-dying over 100 t-shirts which were then distributed to children in Tennyson Center's residential treatment program.

June 9 came all too fast as we had to say good-bye to our friends from Kansas, but we know we'll see them again next year. We are grateful for the generosity, devotion and kindness of the gang from Trinity Christian Church in Cheney, Kansas.
