There are ways you can help bring about greater awareness of child abuse and neglect in your own community. Here are some ideas.
Start with yourself. Does your company do service projects? Suggest that the organization fund an ad campaign that will benefit a local or regional nonprofit child abuse prevention organization.
Ask co-workers if they'd like to start a volunteer group from your company to assist at a organization benefiting children.
Think through your business contacts. Is there an organization that can fund a public awareness campaign in your community? Volunteers could run the campaign.
Write, or get a talented friend to write, an editorial on child abuse for your local newspaper. There are statistics and other information available on Internet search engines.
Contact a local publication directly and ask if they sometimes have extra "fill-in" space for a public service ad. Then find someone, or ask their staff, to design the ad for a local child abuse prevention organization.
Give a talk to a work group or members of a social club about child abuse and its impact on the community.
Think about your life, the people you meet, and where you go. What other things can you do to get the word out that more people need to help in this area?
