Residential Program

Tennyson Center for Children operates a residential treatment program for males and females ages five to 17 years old. Clients may continue in residential services after turning 18 if deemed appropriate by all involved parties. Our residential services provide 24-hour care and treatment for children who have significant emotional and behavioral challenges which have been unable to be successfully treated in a less restrictive setting. From referral to discharge, the common goal for all clients is improve safety, stability and family functioning. The goal is to help the client return to his/her family or to a less restrictive living environment, when it is not possible to reunify with family.

Residential Services Include:

  • Structured care using Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
  • Psychiatric consultation and services when indicated
  • Therapy services (family, milieu, individual, group)
  • Educational services for general and special education students
  • Spiritually integrated services via our chaplain and clinical team
  • 24-hour crisis support from a clinician
  • Discharge planning at time of admission through discharge
