They're yours. They're mine. They're OURS. They belong to all of us and it's our responsibility to ensure that the childhood which was taken away from them is given back before it's too late. We invite you to join us in our mission to break the cycle of abuse once and for all so that we can be sure that, one day, no child will become a victim of abuse or neglect.
Our Vision
"Changing Lives and Giving Hope to Children and Families"
Our Mission
“Tennyson Center for Children serves children, youth and their families to overcome a variety of life crises, including abuse and neglect. Our community of professionals and advocates are dedicated to providing competent and caring treatment and education, both at our campus and within the community. Services are provided regardless of religion, creed, age, race, color, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability status or military status.”
The Philosophy at Tennyson Center
Child-Centered
Early intervention while children are still in their families is the best time to solve difficult problems. Early intervention has a therapeutic purpose to meet the child's treatment and education needs. Children thrive best in a safe environment that provides consistency, structure and nurturing.
Family-Focused
The total family unit is the focus of treatment. Families possess the inherent capacity to heal themselves. A systems approach is the most effective way to support families and address social problems.
Community-Based
We collaborate constructively with others in the community. Children and families respond best to treatment that addresses the community and culture in which they live. It is our duty to heighten community and legislative awareness of the difficult challenges that face families.
