Bridge to Home: Cottage Renovation Project at Tennyson Center
"It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home." Author Unknown
This year a special committee of staff, board, and volunteers at Tennyson Center for Children are seeking corporate and community help to support the Bridge to Home project that will help update and renovate Tennyson Center's five cottages, or dormitories which serve as temporary “homes” for children that need "out-of-home" placement due to safety reasons.
The cottages are in dire need of home improvements including items like window treatments, lighting, flooring, new bedroom furniture, carpeting, and art. The Bridge to Home committee has compiled a list of the necessary improvements needed to make these home environments into inviting, warmer, and brighter spaces so that children in transition can feel secure and protected once they arrive.
Tennyson Center for Children’s cottages provides a safe shelter and supports the transitional gap for the residential children that will lead them over the bridge into successful home placement. We need the help of our supporters to improve the cottages and transform them into temporary “home” environments where these frightened children can feel some normalcy.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and wrap their arms around Tennyson Center for Children. Help us on our continued “Safely Home” commitment this year and support the abused and neglected children in our care.” Cooper encourages. Throughout the year, we will serve some of Colorado’s most neglected and abused children, over 600 to be exact. As a sponsor of this special project, you’ll be supporting each and every one of those children as we guide them on the path to healing.
An extensive needs list of cottage renovations and items can be sent to you, your organization or company. You can purchase the items for the cottage or decide to participate in the renovation efforts by donating the funds and volunteering to replace carpet, paint, lay flooring, and update the decor.
